Penguin Love

We had a bit more snow yesterday — pretty, fluffy stuff that stuck to trees and not roads. I had to laugh when I was watching the news the night before and the NYC news was saying how hard this winter has been. Now, I will not dispute this winter has been rough for the Mid-Atlantic — getting 2-3 feet of snow at once is rough. Doing that more than once is just ridiculous. However, that amount of snow hasn’t been received in NYC or Northern Jersey. It’s February — it is supposed to be cold and it is supposed to snow! Drives me a little bonkers when they forget NY/NJ are NOT southern states.

Enough about my weather pet peeves and on to my card. After inking up my She’s a Lady set from There She Goes yesterday, I decided it was time to ink up Penguin Love, which had yet to receive any inky love.

When There She Goes released this set, I can easily say the snowball juggling sold me on the set. This little guy inked up so nice — I got a perfectly clean image on the first go, which isn’t usual for me with solid images. I added a bit of B000 as a highlight to his inner body and colored in his beak and feet. I used the plain scarf and filled it in with Christmas Red Stickles. His snowball pile is Liquid Appliqued with some Martha Stewart Crystal micro beads added in.

I used the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches #33 for layout and also followed the DCRU challenge #26 of NO patterned paper. I embossed the red and white layers with Cuttlebug Snowflakes folders — I used the 5×7 folder on the red and the regular on the white. I added in some red snowflake ribbon from Michaels and some snowflakes from the Martha Stewart Snowflake punch. The sentiment was stamped and punched out with the SU Word Window and Modern Tag punches. Even if you are tired of snow, he has to make you smile!

  1. Love the pearls! perfect snowballs. I know what you mean about the snow. I am in NE Ohio, and we are usually getting slammed this year we have had it pretty easy other than a few big storms, but just about 30 miles south they have gotten a bit of what we usually get and they are beside themselves. C'mon people, it's winter!
